WEST System Scarffer : can i cut 1/2" wood with it? with a 9" saw?

John, No, 3/8" is about the thickest piece you can effectively cut. I used it for scarfing 9cm plywood to make 16' panels for a stich and glue boat and it worked great.

John,I donâ??t think using the West System 875 Scraffer mounted on a 9 inch circular saw, to create a scraf on ½ inch thick plywood, will work. The blade will extend well beyond the scraffer guide and guard making it impossible to cut the scraf and would be extremely dangerous. In the scraffer manual West Systems recommends for scraffing ½ inch thick plywood cut a two inch scraf and remove the remaining 2 inches with a hand plane. Hopes this helps.
