Simrad RS35 VHF/AIS Radio : Hi there; I have a Icom VHF radio in my sailing boat and I want to replace it with a Simrad RS35 VHF/AIS Radio .Is this compatible with the existing VHF antenna? Or do I need to install a new antenna ? Thanking you in adva

Your current antenna is fine.... Just be sure your chart plotter has nmea2000 to provide a position for AIS ranges and dsc. The book says this radio has 0183 connection but I never could get it to talk to my older plotter even after talking to both manufacturers.

Your existing VHF should work fine. If it is old or a cheaper brand or design you may want to consider upgrading to get the maximum performance from your new equipment.
