Over coat

I am planing to repaint the hull of my 34 ft sail boat. It was painted with awl grip about 1996. I want to use interlux perfection now Any special prep needed ? I did the top sides in perfection last year and it turned out very nice. Not perfect but a two foot job ! I would like to avoid sanding back to gel coat or priming if possible. The awl grip has held up very well but has become dull and as I learned there is no buffing or waxing it. Once gone it's gone

Thanks

The perfection should be OK on top of Awlgrip so long as the Awlgrip is in good condition.  You will still need to sand lightly with 220 grit or a scotchbrite pad to scuff up the old paint, then wipe with denatured alcohol.
